“Chania” translated from over five languages is the second largest city in Crete, the airport lies north of the Island and is 145 km from the island main airport Heraklion. Weather on the island is typical Mediterranean climate; though snow is very rare on the 13th February 2004 the island had its first snowstorm in which 30cm of snow fell causing general chaos. The summer months are as dry and hot that Saharan dust is quite frequent from the start of spring and summer. For a flight to Chania the airport code to use is CHQ.
